Schools/Non-Profits

School Funds
Due to a generous bequest to the Archdiocese of Atlanta from Joseph Mitchell, and the decision of Archbishop Wilton Gregory to utilize part of that gift to ensure that every Archdiocesan Catholic School has an endowment at the Catholic Foundation for its future, each Archdiocesan Catholic School now has its own endowment fund. In addition, a number of private Catholic schools have created endowment funds at the Foundation. All earnings from each school's endowment will support the work of that designated school.

Most parents, alumni, parishioners, or volunteers have not thought about making a legacy gift to a Catholic school in their wills or estate plans. Working with the Catholic Foundation does not affect your annual fund, your capital campaign, or other short-term fundraising activities.
We facilitate more complex gifts for the school such as gifts of real estate, charitable gift annuities, insurance policies, and other planned gifts.

The Catholic Foundation wishes to assist local Catholic schools in building these endowment funds to support the important work of educating children well into the future. We are happy to make presentations to School Finance Councils and Development Committees to explain the endowment funds and provide ideas regarding how the schools can grow the endowment through the encouragement of legacy gifts. The Catholic Foundation will work with the Principal, the Development Director, and others at the school to educate possible donors about endowment and planned giving.

Many schools increase their endowments over time by tithing to the endowment from all funds raised at the school. Scholarship funds may be placed in the endowment as a way to honor a special family member or teacher. Promoting planned giving and Catholic legacies with alumni, parents, and grandparents encourages bequests to the endowment fund.

Nonprofit Funds
Nonprofit organizations, Catholic and otherwise, are welcome to establish endowments at the Catholic Foundation of North Georgia. Creating an endowment at the Foundation enables the nonprofit to focus on its mission because we handle the administration and legal requirements of endowments. Earnings from the fund will support the purposes designated by the nonprofit and its donors. Nonprofits increase their endowments over time by tithing to the endowment from all fundraising and by promoting legacy gifts.

Most donors, parishioners, or volunteers have not thought about making a legacy gift to Catholic Charities, St. Vincent de Paul, or other nonprofits in their wills or estate plans. Working with the Catholic Foundation does not affect your annual fund, your capital campaign, or other short-term fundraising activities. We facilitate more complex gifts for the nonprofit, such as gifts of real estate, charitable gift annuities, insurance policies, and other planned gifts.
